Bill Guerin's three goals and a pair of assists lead the North American Stars to a 14-12 victory over the World Stars on Sunday.
Guerin's hat trick was the 12th in All-Star history and the 26 goals shattered the previous All-Star record of 22, set in 1993 at Montreal. Guerin also won the game MVP playing on an all American line with Doug Weight and Tony Amonte that could be reunited next year in the Salt Lake City Olympics. "Hopefully we all are going to be members of the team," Guerin said. "When you are involved in something like that, you are never going to be upset about who your linemates are." Amonte, of the Chicago Blackhawks, had two goals and an assist and Weight of the Edmonton Oilers, collected a goal and three assists. Theo Fleury of the New York Rangers, Luc Robitaille of the Los Angeles Kings and Simon Gagne of the Philadelphia Flyers scored two goals each for North American. Mats Sundin of the Toronto Maple Leafs had two goals and two assists, Sergei Fedorov of the Detroit Red Wings scored two goals and Peter Forsberg had a goal and two assists for the World All-Stars. |
