Free Agency Kicks InArchived from 2000-01 season. | |
July 1st marks the date of free agency on the NHL calendar and Florida Panthers didn't waste any time by signing Igor Larionov, who won two Stanley Cups with Detroit, to a one-year deal.
"We believe that his poise and character, along with what he can add to our younger players in the organization, is well worth bringing him on board," Panthers general manager Bryan Murray said. Also Saturday, Anaheim agreed to a multiyear deal with Russian center German Titov and San Jose signed left wing Scott Thornton, who had been with the Dallas Stars. Earlier the Philadelphia Flyers made a qualifying $8.5 million offer to Eric Lindros, preventing him from becoming an unrestricted free agent. |
