Penguins Even SeriesArchived from 2000-01 season. | |
Mario Lemieux had a goal and an assist as the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Washington Capitals 2-1 to even the playoff series at one game all.
"There was still some frustration from Game One, but I think we turned the tables on them," Lemieux said. "They looked like the frustrated ones today, especially in the last two periods." Lemieux assisted on Pittsburgh's first goal, by Kevin Stevens, then scored the game-winner in the first period. "They didn't score a 5-on-5 goal against us in 120 minutes," Penguins coach Ivan Hlinka said. "We played very responsibly today, very disciplined." Peter Bondra scored for the Capitals, who were held to one goal for the second straight game. "They built a wall," Capitals coach Ron Wilson said. "We couldn't seem to generate much." |
