series

Benoit Hogue scored with 12 seconds left in the first overtime as the Dallas Stars beat Edmonton 3-2 Sunday night in Game 3 of their first-round playoff series.

"I only had three shifts in overtime and I really didn't play much at all tonight. So I was kind of surprised to be out there with two minutes left in the overtime," Hogue said. "I'm confident that I won't make mistakes in that situation, so I just keep going forward, and it paid off."

The Stars built a 2-0 lead with goals by Sergei Zubov and Mike Modano only to squander it in the final 63 seconds of regulation as Ryan Smith and Rem Murray scored for Edmonton to send the game in overtime.

"Coming back and tying it and giving ourselves life and hope in the series and to lose it is devastating," Oilers coach Craig MacTavish said.
