Kings Shock Red Wings In DetroitArchived from 2000-01 season. | |
Ziggy Palffy had a goal and an assist as the Los Angeles Kings beat the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 on Saturday to take a 3-2 series lead.
"This would be great if it was a best-of-five, but it's a best-of-seven," Kings coach Andy Murray said. The Kings snapped Detroit's 21-game home unbeaten streak. The Red Wings hadn't lost a game at Joe Louis Arena this year, going 19-0-2 since losing on Dec. 27. "We have to remember that we haven't accomplished anything yet," Kings goalie Felix Potvin said. "We've still got to win Game 6. It's the toughest to win." Ian Laperriere and Adam Deadmarsh also scored for the Kings, who can end the series in Game 6 on Monday in Los Angeles. "Tonight was huge for us," said Deadmarsh. "We had to win against them in their building, and tonight was a good night to do it." |
