Penguins Beat SabresArchived from 2000-01 season. | |
Mario Lemieux scored the game-winner and goalie Johan Hedberg stopped all 25 shots as the Pittsburgh Penguins blanked the Buffalo Sabres with a 3-0 victory to take a 1-0 lead in the second round series.
"We always want to score first. It gives us a lot of confidence with the defense that we have now," Lemieux said. "We feel that one or two goals should be enough for us to win the game." Jan Hrdina and Keith Primeau also scored for the Penguins, who played the third period without Jaromir Jagr due to a leg injury. "It's a great challenge for me to have Hasek on the other side. I know it's gonna be as tight a series as the first one." Hedberg said. "This is something I've been working for my whole life. When I came here, I didn't know if I could play in the NHL or not." Game 2 is in Buffalo on Saturday afternoon. |
