Kings Win Opener On RoadArchived from 2000-01 season. | |
Jaroslav Modry scored at 14:23 of overtime giving the Los Angeles Kings a 4-3 victory over the Colorado Avalanche in the opening game of the Western Conference semifinal series.
"I was in there on the left point and things got mixed around," Modry said. "I just switched sides. Stumpel made a nice pass. I set the puck down and just took a whack at it and tried to hit the net." Colorado dominated much of the second and third periods, but Kings goalie Felix Potvin kept his team in the game. "You don't usually win games when you play as poorly as we did the first 40 minutes," Los Angeles coach Andy Murray said. "I challenged that line. I said to Ziggy, you guys have got to raise your game. They responded. They played well in overtime." Glen Murray had two goals and Nelson Emerson also scored for the Kings, who were outshot 37-25 including 33-16 in regulation. |
