series

Scott Young and Marty Reasoner each scored as the St. Louis Blues beat the Dallas Stars 2-1 to take a 2-0 lead in the second round series.

"Getting two on the road, in this building, is something I think we should feel pretty good about," St. Louis coach Joel Quenneville said.

The hero of the game was Blues goalie Roman Turek, who stopped 28 shots against his former team and held a shutout until the last minute of the game.

"It would've been nice," Turek said about missing the shutout. "But the win tonight and in both games, it's an unbelievable feeling. We just have to continue to play the same type of hockey."

The Blues got a quick start as Reasoner scored just 1:25 into the game. Young added a shorthanded goal at 9:32.

The Stars were playing without Mike Modano, who sprained his left ankle in Game 1 and is day-to-day.

The best-of-seven series shifts to St. Louis for Game 3 on Tuesday night.

"It's a big hole," Dallas coach Ken Hitchcock said. "But if we can bring the same effort in Game 3, we give ourselves a hell of a chance to win. But it's got to be the same or better."
