Scott Young scored his third career sudden-death playoff goal 10:27 into double overtime as the St. Louis Blues beat the Colorado Avalanche 4-3 in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals.
"We just have to believe it's eventually going to go in the net," Young said. "I just tried to get it off quick." The Blues avoided a 3-0 deficit in the series, cutting the Avs' lead to 2-1 with a desperate effort. St. Louis mustered a whopping 60 shots on Patrick Roy, who was not blamed for the loss by his team. "I think his performances are speaking by themselves," coach Bob Hartley said. "Patrick is strong and he's giving us a chance to win every game. Tonight, we almost took advantage of it again." Roman Turek had a shaky start on the Blues net giving up three goals on only 16 shots in regulation. "I think he overcame a tough start," coach Joel Quenneville said. "He made that big save in overtime and he had several saves after that. He got the win and he's going to get better from that." Game 4 is on Friday in St. Louis. |
