Stephane Yelle scored on a deflection at 4:23 of overtime as the Colorado Avalanche beat St. Louis 4-3 on Friday night to take a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference finals.
The Avs scored three goals in a 78-second span in the first period, then watched the Blues battle back with two goals in the second period and one in the third before pushing St. Louis on the brink of elimination. Joe Sakic had a goal and an assist and Steve Reinprecht and Ray Bourque also scored for the Avs, who can clinch their second trip to the Stanley Cup Finals in six years with a home win Monday night. |
