Devils Crush PenguinsArchived from 2000-01 season. | |
Martin Brodeur stopped all shots for his second consecutive shutout as the New Jersey Devils routed the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-0 to take a commanding 3-1 lead in the Eastern Conference final series.
"Our guys are coming together at the right time, really working together," Brodeur said. "We've held them down tremendously. When we play well, we have a lot of offense and play good defense." For the second straight game Jaromir Jagr and Mario Lemieux shut down as the Penguins were pushed on the brink of elimination. "I'm just here and I'm trying to play here," Jagr said. "I don't have any answers for anything that has happened here. It's getting worse and worse. It's the most frustrating since I started playing in the NHL." "I don't know how they feel, but I know how we feel. We're a hard team to beat," said Devils Bobby Holik. "I don't think it's a matter of what they're not doing, we're just not giving them much. We are in charge of the game." Game 5 will be Tuesday night in New Jersey. "We had a fear playing Pittsburgh here, and we knew how big a game this was for us," Jason Arnott said. "This series isn't over. We still have to have that fear at home Tuesday." |
