Sens Spoil Nolan's ReturnArchived from 2000-01 season. | |
Daniel Alfredsson had three goals and an assist as the Ottawa Senators routed the San Jose Sharks 8-4 in a game that marked Sharks captain Owen Nolan's return from 11-game suspension.
"It was a lot of fun, nothing like we expected against a very good defensive team like San Jose," Alfredsson said. "We were expecting a tough battle, fighting for our space in the offensive zone. We got off to a good start in every period, and they had to chase and open the game up." Nolan, who was suspended for a violent hit to the head on Dallas' Grant Marshall, scored twice to reach 20 goals for the seventh time in his career. "I felt great," Nolan said. "I've been well rested, I've had lots of time. I've just been working out and skating, trying to get ready for tonight." Alfredsson had his third career four-point game and second hat trick to help the Senators increase their lead in the Northeast division standings to ten points over the second-place Buffalo. "It's always nice, especially doing it at home, in front of our fans, and winning the game as well," Alfredsson said. |
