Blackhawks Hire Sutter As Coach

Brian Sutter was hired as the coach of the Blackhawks, the team announced on Thursday. Sutter replaces Alpo Suhonen, whp stepped down with a heart condition in March.

"It's a sports city where the fans want to see an honest effort for an honest dollar," said Sutter, who is Chicago's sixth coach since 1995.

Attendance is down and the fans are unhappy as the Blackhawks have missed the playoffs four years in a row.

"I'm not a hollering guy," said Sutter. "I'm a no-nonsense guy and I don't ride fences. I make a decision after I talk to a lot of people. I'm going to ask a lot of myself. I can't be afraid to do the wrong thing."
