Avs Sign Sakic, Roy, Blake

Proving all nay-sayers wrong, the Colorado Avalanche found the cash to sign all of their prominent free agents to new contracts.

Joe Sakic, Patrick Roy and Rob Blake re-signed with the Avalanche.

"I know this will come as great news to our fans," Avalanche general manager Pierre Lacroix said. "Joe, Patrick and Rob are three of the premier players at their respective positions in the National Hockey League, and we are thrilled that they will remain integral parts of our team for years to come."

Sakic signed for five years at an average of $9.5 million, Roy signed a three-year extension worth $8.5 million per season and Blake signed for five years at an average of $9 million.
