Flyers Sign RoenickArchived from 2001-02 season. | |
Jeremy Roenick signed a five-year, $37.5 million contract with the Philadelphia Flyers Monday.
"I just can't wait to get going. I am happier than any of you guys know," Roenick said at a news conference. "You will not, will not, be disappointed," he told Flyers chairman Ed Snider. "And all you Flyers fans, let's get going! I want to win! Let's go!" The Flyers and Roenick reached agreement on the deal Friday, two days before he was to become an unrestricted free agent. The Phoenix Coyotes allowed the two parties to talk, which Roenick called "a classy move." "I really love the guys who are on this team," Roenick said. "I think the size of the team, our defense on the Flyers, is very big, very strong. ... There's not one guy on our line who's not physically capable of handling anybody in the league, and for me that's great." "Coming into this building is one of the scariest experiences," Roenick said. "It's just intimidating -- and I want to be a part of that." |
