2002 Playoffs

Saku Koivu scored the go-ahead goal in the third period and the Montreal Canadiens beat the Boston Bruins 5-4 to take a two games to one lead in the series.

"It was special tonight," Koivu said. "I don't know what I thought when the puck went in because it all happened so fast. But it was great to score a winning goal in a game like this."

Montreal trailed 3-1 going into the third period, but stormed back on goals from Donald Audette, Doug Gilmour, Koivu and an empty-netter with one second left by Joe Juneau.

Isles Crush Leafs
The New York Islanders scored four power-play goals on their way to rout the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-1. Mark Parrish had two goals and Michael Peca, Brad Isbister, Shawn Bates and Dave Scatchard scored for New York.

"I had some ugly, garbage goals," Parrish said. "We need to score those."

Johnson Blanks Blackhawks Again
Brent Johnson shut the Chicago Blackhawks out for a third straight game and Pavol Demitra scored the only goal for the St. Louis Blues, who took a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Johnson's three straight shutouts in the playoffs tie an NHL record shared by three other goalies, the most recent being Frank McCool of Toronto in 1945.

Devils Tie The Series
Bobby Holik, Brian Gionta and Brian Rafalski each scored for the New Jersey Devils in their 3-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. The Eastern Conference series is tied at two games apiece.

Red Wings Pull Even
Steve Yzerman scored the go-ahead goal 56 seconds into the third period as the Detroit Red Wings evened their first-round playoff series with a 4-2 victory Tuesday night over the Vancouver Canucks.

Roy Blanks Kings
Roy made 32 saves for his 20th NHL career playoff shutout as the Colorado Avalanche beat the Los Angeles Kings 1-0.
