2002 Playoffs

Alyn McCauley scored a pair of second-period goals as the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Ottawa Senators 2-1 to tie the best-of-seven series at 2-2.

"That might be our most complete game of the playoffs," McCauley said. "That's exactly how we need to play against Ottawa. We were smarter, we conserved our energy and we took advantages of our opportunities."

After constantly bitching about officiating, the Maple Leafs had good things to say about referees after a video review with 25.4 seconds remaining disallowed what had initially been ruled a Senators goal.

"That's the only call they could've made," Toronto's Shayne Corson said. "The puck didn't go into the net. Obviously, we're happy with that call."

Game 5 of the best-of-seven series is at Toronto on Friday.

Colorado Wins Game 4
Joe Sakic scored two goals, and Patrick Roy stopped 19 shots as the Avalanche beat the San Jose Sharks 4-1 Wednesday night, evening their Western Conference semifinal series at two games apiece.

With the victory Colorado regained home-ice advantage. Game 5 is Friday night in Denver.
