Alexander Mogilny scored the game-winner at 4:28 of the third period as the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Ottawa Senators 4-3 on Sunday to force a decisive Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series.
"Nobody believed in us, but here we are on the road, shorthanded again, and we found a way to get the job done," Mogilny said. "Well, we said we're going back (to Toronto) anyway. We might as well bring those guys with us." Gary Roberts had two goals and an assist and Bryan McCabe also scored for Toronto. Marian Hossa, Daniel Alfredsson and Todd White scored for the Senators, who had a 2-0 lead early in the first period. "Everybody dreams of being that guy who makes the difference and makes the winning happen." Irbe started for the first time in five games after being benched by coach Paul Maurice in the New Jersey series in favor of Kevin Weekes. "I don't know if you have that anywhere, where two guys support the team," Rod Brind'Amour said of the two goalies. "They can't be happy with getting yanked in and out, but we've got to go with who is hot. It's the playoffs and that's what it's all about. Archie has been professional about it and Weeksie has been great. He's the biggest cheerleader out there. That says a lot about the individuals." |
