St. Louis Blues winger Keith Tkachuk will be out four-to-six weeks with a broken left foot.

"It's frustrating," Tkachuk said Friday. "The only good thing is I had a child yesterday, so I had some good news and some bad news, but the good news outweighs the bad news anyday."

Tkachuk was injured in the third period of Wednesday night's 7-0 victory over Nashville, when a puck hit his foot. He limped off the ice but returned for a few shifts.

After the game, Tkachuk's wife gave birth to the couple's third child, a girl. That delayed an MRI for Tkachuk until Thursday, when the fracture was discovered.

The Blues are already without top defenseman Chris Pronger, who underwent wrist surgery on Oct. 21, and starting goaltender Brent Johnson, who has been nursing an ankle injury since the preseason.

"It builds our team even more, it brings us closer," Tkachuk said of the raft of injuries the team has suffered. "Chris being out was a big blow to us. We pulled together and won some games without him, but obviously, we're a better team with him. It's no different now. We have to pull together and ride the wave. The guys are playing really good hockey now."
