Washington Capitals right wing Mike Grier was suspended one game for an elbowing penalty in Monday's 2-2 tie with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Grier leveled Robert Reichel in the right corner with 2:45 remaining in third period and received a minor penalty. He will sit out Tuesday night's game against the Montreal Canadiens and can return Friday against the Dallas Stars. Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, Grier will forfeit $9,066.66. The money will go to the Players Emergency Assistance Fund. |
