Sather Steps Down As Rangers CoachFeb 24, 2004 | |
Glen Sather stepped down Wednesday as coach of the Rangers, but he remains as the team's president and general manager signaling that more changes lie ahead as the March 9 trading deadline nears. Tom Renney was named interim coach.
"We're going to spend the next couple weeks evaluating where we're going to go and how we're going to get to where we decide to go. When the deadline comes around, you'll probably have an idea." Sather said. The Rangers probably will miss the playoffs for a seventh straight season despite the highest payroll in the NHL. "We've got a long way to go in a lot of areas to get back to respectability, let alone trying to make a playoff run," Mark Messier said. |
