Turco Rejects Stars' OfferArchived from 2003-04 season. | |
Goalie Marty Turco rejected the Dallas Stars' three-year, $12 million contract offer before the 8 p.m. Thursday deadline the team had set, so he will not be with the team when it leaves for training camp in Vail, Colo., this afternoon. The Stars said that is their final offer.
"Our goal was to have Marty in camp," Stars general manager Doug Armstrong said. "We think we addressed some of his concerns with the terms, and we felt we addressed the other concerns with the amount. We fell short of his expectations. Now we have to move forward, because he won't be in camp." Turco set a modern NHL record last season with his 1.72 goals against average. He was also an All-Star in his first season as the starter, finishing 31-10-10. |
