Lucky's back in L.A.

Luc Robitaille was back and things looked up for the Los Angeles Kings, at least for one night, as the team beat the Ottawa Senators in their home opener, 7-4.

Robitaille scored the winning goal at 12.53 in the third period, for his third goal of the season. The loud and joyous sell-out crowd welcomed back their favorite son with open arms and repeatedly chanting "Luc, Luc".

Robitaille spent eight seasons with the Kings before being traded to Pittsburgh in 1994. The Kings reacquired him in a trade with the New York Rangers on August 28.

"It really felt good to play in front of a crowd that was happy to see me," Robitaille said. "We're going to get better and surprise a lot of teams. I really enjoyed the win tonight. You get a great feeling when the fans are like that."

Jozef Stumpel scored a goal and added three assists for the Kings, who won their first game improving to 1-2-3. The Kings started the season with a five game road trip.

Ottawa seemed tired and made many defensive mistakes. The team was told about the re-signing of right wing Daniel Alfredsson only after the game.
