Two referees for playoffs

After limited experiment during the regular season, the NHL has decided to use the two-referee system throughout the playoffs.

Since the start of this season in October, each team has played 10 home and 10 road games with two referees and two linesman, instead of just one referee as in the past.

NHL senior vice president Colin Campbell said club executives were "overwhelmingly in support" of the two-referee system for the playoffs.

"When the system was phased in during the regular season, the games had a quicker pace, interference was reduced, and improper conduct behind the play was controlled," Campbell said.
