Dominik Hasek has the New York Rangers' number. For the fourth straight time Hasek shuts out the Rangers, but this time they earn a point as they tie the Buffalo Sabres, 0-0.
Hasek extended his shutout string to 263 minutes and 46 seconds against the Rangers. He has stopped 119 shots in the streak. He was lucky Tuesday as the Rangers hit the goal posts three times. "We had opportunities but didn't hit the net enough or take as many shots as we should," said Rangers forward John MacLean. Buffalo outshot the Rangers 24-16 and only the suberb play of Ranger goalie Mike Richter who earned his 19th career shutout. "It would have been no points if we did not have a shutout," said Richter. "It's better than nothing. They obviously have a very good goaltender and they certainly work hard." Hasek, who had his 35th career shutout, was determined after surrendering five goals to the Islanders Saturday night. "When you lose a game and give up five goals, you think about the next game," Hasek said. "You try to overcome such a bad game -- maybe I was sharper because of that." |
