The New Jersey Devils sent Jason Arnott, forward Randy McKay and a first-round pick to the Dallas Stars for Joe Nieuwendyk and right wing Jamie Langenbrunner in the biggest deal at the NHL's trading deadline.

"Arnott was the key for us," Stars general manager Doug Armstrong said. "He brings us some size, some strength and a different attitude at center ice."

The Philadelphia Flyers landed veteran playmaker Adam Oates from the Washington Capitals for goalie Maxime Ouellet and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd-round picks in 2002 Entry Draft.

Colorado added defenseman Darius Kasparaitis from Pittsburgh for left wing Ville Nieminen and defenseman Rick Berry in a very busy day of trading.

A day before, the New York Rangers grabbed Pavel Bure from the Florida Panthers giving up only little-used defenseman Igor Ulanov and minor league defenseman Filip Novak along with three draft picks.

"It's great to be part of the New York Rangers -- one of the original six teams," Bure said. "It's been a dream of mine for such a long time."
