Only a day after Pierre Gauthier announced his resignation citing family reasons, the Ottawa Senators replaced him with a former NHL player Rick Dudley.
"I'm not here to change things. I'm here to keep things going in the same direction," Dudley said. Senators president Roy Mlakar said he made the decision to hire Dudley after conducting multiple interviews with him during several weeks. "He manages the same way he coached, the same way he played: intense," said Mlakar. "You will find no one who will question this man's work ethic." Dudley, who signed a three-year contract with the Senators, said he is happy with the personnel on the team and will not likely make any changes. "My goal is to take the team that Pierre took out of the quagmire and take it to the next level," said Dudley.
