Hasek Not Done YetArchived from 1999-2000 season. | |
The Buffalo Sabres' star goaltender Domink Hasek announced Monday that he has changed his mind and will not retire after this season.
"When I made the (retirement) announcement I didn't expect to be out for half the season," Hasek said. "What happened in the beginning of the season was a bad thing for me and that's why I changed my mind." Hasek, 35, missed 40 games due to a groin injury suffered in October. Since returning to action he is undefeated (2-0-2). The Sabres are out of playoffs as of now and will hope to get a boost from Hasek's return for the stretch drive. "My goal is to help the team get to the playoffs," he said. "I believe I will be back in the best shape again to do the best for the Sabres." Hasek is the highest-paid goaltender in the NHL at $9.25 million. He will receive another $9.25 million in 2000-01, the final season of a three-year, $26 million deal. |
