Kings Win Fifth StraightArchived from 1999-2000 season. | |
Luc Robitaille scored his 30th goal and Stephane Fiset made 33 saves as the Los Angeles Kings earned their fifth straight win with a 3-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings.
"We've battled the Red Wings hard all year," Kings coach Andy Murray said. "We knew we'd have to play a great game to beat them here and we got outstanding goaltending. No one works harder than Stephane Fiset. It's nice to see him rewarded tonight." Robitaille scored the game-winner from a bad angle between goaltender Chris Osgood's pads for his 10th goal in as many games. He reached the 30-goal mark for the 10th time in a 14-year career. "(Zigmund) Palffy is so good with the puck," Robitaille said. "He gave the puck to me and I saw a little hole and it sneaked in when (Osgood) moved to his left." Detroit saw its four-game winning streak come to an end and may have lost more when Sergei Fedorov injured his right hand and bruised a knee when he was checked into the boards by Bob Corkum. It was not immediately clear if he is going to miss any games. "They played tight, disciplined hockey, so there was not much room out there," Detroit's Igor Larionov said. "We tried to create some chances, but I guess we had no luck. There was a lot of grabbing and a lot of holding and there's no penalties, unfortunately, so what can you do." |
