Senators Beat Leafs in Game 3Archived from 1999-2000 season. | |
Rob Zamuner scored two goals, including the game-winner as Ottawa ended an eight-game playoff losing streak with a 4-3 victory over Toronto.
"It's ironic -- we usually outshoot opponents," Zamuner said. "This time, we didn't get the shots but we got the win. So hey, don't ask questions." Toronto outshot Ottawa 36-15, but Tom Barrasso in the Senator's net played a strong game. Toronto still leads the series 2-1. "Feelings are overrated," Barrasso said. "It's getting the job done that matters. We did a lot of things well and we had great enthusiasm. We finished our checks. There were a lot of areas to improve and we have to keep doing that." After Zamuner's second goal, Toronto goalie Curtis Joseph, who felt he was interfered with, lost his cool and chased referee Mick McGeough to the corner where they both fell on the ice. "If I was going to attack a referee, which I would never do, I wouldn't slide into his feet and let him fall on top of me," said Joseph. "The thing that bothers me most is that I could see it but I couldn't save it. Now I've got to explain to my kids why I got so mad on the ice. There was contact, that's fine. But when it leads to a goal, it's very frustrating." |
