Chris Osgood earned his third shutout of the season as the Detroit Red Wings ended the St. Louis Blues' six-game winning streak with 2-0 victory.
"That's the way we were playing when we were winning our Cups," said Brendan Shanahan. Martin Lapointe and Nicklas Lidstrom scored for the Red Wings, who ended a three-game losing streak and narrowed the Blues' lead in the Western Conference to three points. "Guys have pride," Osgood said. "St. Louis beat us pretty bad at home, and we decided enough was enough." The Blues ended their winless streak (0-6-2) at Detroit on Tuesday, but the Red Wings returned the favor at the second half of the home-and-home series with great defensive effort limiting St. Louis to thirteen shots. "We didn't expect them to come in here and just lay down and give us the second game," Blues center Craig Conroy said. "We have to go back to the drawing board to try to solve Detroit." |
