Sergei Fedorov scored two goals in the second period and the Detroit Red Wings extended their unbeaten streak to four games with a 5-3 victory over the Dallas Stars.

"It's always an intense game against them," Fedorov said. "It's not easy to play against a team like that. They're physical so you have to concentrate on every play. That helps you stay focused."

Fedorov's first goal broke a 1-1 tie in the second period. He added a short-handed tally at the end of the period. Fedorov has 25 goals in 50 games against Dallas.

"I'm always prepared to play against the better teams like Dallas," he said. "To be able to survive against such teams you need to have that extra level of concentration."

Mike Modano had a goal and an assist for the Stars, who had a three-game unbeaten streak ended.

"I thought the difference was definitely too many puck mistakes. We turned it over way too many times," Dallas coach Ken Hitchcock said. "In order to win a game like this, you can't have any weak players. I thought we had some weak players this evening. They were determined defensively and caused some of our turnovers. But we created some with our own mistakes."
