Forsberg Returns To AvalancheArchived from 1999-2000 season. | |
Peter Forsberg returned to action in style by scoring two goals and adding three assists for a five-point night as the Colorado Avalanche beat the Calgary Flames 7-1.
Forsberg had been sidelined since undergoing shoulder surgery on June 29 scored on his first shift to set the tone for the game as Colorado snapped a three-game home losing streak. "It's always good to get a goal on your first shift, but this was a game it seemed everything was going in," Forsberg said. "I've been skating for a long time -- just didn't take any hits until tonight." Milan Hejduk had a goal and two assists and Shjon Podein and Chris Drury each added a goal and an assist for the Avalanche, who lost 7-0 the night before in Phoenix. "Great superstars have a special way of doing things," Colorado coach Bob Hartley said. "Peter worked hard and was eager to get back into the game." Grant Fuhr replaced Fred Brathwaite, who let in three goals on four shots, in the first period, but it didn't make any difference as the Avalanche was unstoppable. "They were fired up after losing 7-0 last night," Brathwaite said. "I'm disappointed with my performance, but I can't dwell on it." |
