Stephane Richer scored his first hat trick in nearly four years as the St. Louis Blues won their sixth straight game with a 4-2 victory over the Colorado Avalanche.
"I'm really lucky," Richer said. "I'm playing with great players and a great team. I'm trying to get my confidence and my shape back, because it's been a long year for me." Craig Conroy scored the game-winning goal snapping a third-period 2-2 tie with a one-handed rebound shot while colliding with teammate Jamal Mayers. "I think I was shooting and it left my stick before he knocked me back," Conroy said. "I went down and it kind of hurt and I was just glad it went in. I'm always surprised when it goes in." "Right now we just don't feel like we're going to lose, whatever happens, we feel this team's going to win." It is a different story for the Avalanche, who lost third in a row and have only won once in their last seven. Colorado also trails Edmonton by five points for the lead of the Northwest Division. "I don't think we are as explosive as everybody seems to think we are," Avs left wing Dave Reid said. "We haven't been there the last month. Guys are trying to look for too much instead of putting the puck at the net." |
