Dave Andreychuck scored four goals as the Boston Bruins thrashed the Tampa Bay Lightning 7-3 for their third straight win after going winless in their first nine games of the season.
"I've had a couple of these games before. I wish they came more often, but that's OK," said Andreychuk. "Jason (Allison) made some pretty decent plays to me and I know their goalie pretty well. I actually had a couple more chances, so I could've had more." Andreychuck has scored four goals on three other times. His record is five goals in a game and ironically they game against Boston on Feb. 6, 1986, when he was playing for the Buffalo Sabres. "It's bound to happen some time," Bruins forward Steve Heinze said. "He's one of those natural goal-scorers people talk about. He gets open, and you find him and put it on his stick, and he'll put it home." Ray Bourque scored a power-play goal and added three assists for the Bruins, who are 10-1-3 all-time at home against Tampa Bay. "Dave is such a big guy and he's scored so many goals," Bourque said. "He showed tonight why he has a knack for scoring. I knew he was going to be a special player for us. Now I really know why he's scored all those goals in his career. I've never seen a guy who never gives up on the puck like he does." Andreas Johansson, Vincent Lecavalier and Stan Drulia scored for the Lightning, who are struggling again with only one win in their last eight games. "Well, our penalty-killing was unacceptable. You can't give up four power-play goals and win. You can't expect to give up four power-play goals and have any chance," Tampa Bay coach Steve Ludzik said. "I like the way we battled back from 4-0 down, but we just made too many mistakes deep in our own end." |
