The New Jersey Devils scored six unanswered goals to extend their home unbeaten streak to 12 games with a 7-4 romp over the Ottawa Senators.

"We stuck together like we've done in the past and that's what we're all about," said Randy McKay, who scored twice for the Devils. "We picked the right time to turn it up tonight. Sometimes turmoil is good. I think we played one of our best team games of the season."

Ottawa took a 3-1 lead in the second period before the Devils came alive scoring twice to tie the game at the end of the period.

"I think the guys continued to skate especially after we fell behind," said Devils coach Robbie Ftorek. "All of sudden we were moving the puck better and things started to click and fall into place."

In the third period the Devils took the lead with McKay's goal in 13 seconds and never looked back. Goals by Petr Sykora, Bobby Holik and Scott Niedermayer gave New Jersey a 7-3 lead before Shawn McEachern of the Senators scored the final goal 13:09.

"It was almost two games in one," Ottawa coach Jacques Martin said. "You just hope that games like this are a lesson. We gave up a goal in the last minute of the second period and it had a snowball effect. It shows their experience."

The Devils are 10-0-2 at Continental Airlines Arena since a loss to Pittsburgh in the home opener. They are within three games of the 1997 team record and have games against Calgary on Saturday and Pittsburgh on Tuesday to close a four-game homestand.

"The feeling is great," Sykora said. "You start to feel that you can make all the plays. We showed tonight how strong we are. We had three lines score goals. I think everybody played their best game of the season tonight."
