Dominik Hasek returned to the Buffalo Sabres lineup after three months on the injury list, but it was Guy Hebert of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim who made the great saves in 2-2 tie.

Hasek made 29 saves and held a shutout for two periods with his trademark saves. However, in overtime Hebert outperformed him making nine saves to salvage the tie for the Ducks.

"It was tough," said Hasek, who missed 40 games after sustaining a groin injury Oct. 29 against Florida. "I felt pretty good the whole game. The groin got a little bit tired, but it had nothing to do with the two goals."

Miroslav Satan and Michael Peca scored for the Sabres, who took a 2-0 lead into the third period before Fredrik Olausson and Steve Rucchin scored power-play goals to force overtime.

"Without him, I would say we would win this game," Ducks Teemu Selanne said about Hasek. "We could not believe he was so good right away. He's the best goalie in the world. He did a great job for them."

Selanne took an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in the opening minute of the extra period, and Hebert almost singlehandedly helped Anaheim kill the ensuing power play.

"I wanted to make sure, if at all possible, to just try to get square to the shooter and get my body in front of the puck," Hebert said. "I did anything I could to get something in front of the puck. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you are able to read the play a little better."
