Peter Forsberg returned to action from shoulder injury with an assist as Colorado beat the Phoenix Coyotes 3-1 to take a 2-0 lead in the series.
"This is only two games," said Colorado defenseman Ray Bourque. "They have the last change in their building and they will be able to get the matchups they want." Chris Drury, Alex Tanguay and Milan Hejduk scored on the power play as Colorado is 6-for-14 in the series. "The power play worked for us," Hejduk said. "It's pretty good. It's important in the playoffs to get the power-play goals." "Today we got those three power-play goals," said Forsberg. "This was the key to the game. We can't let down. We have to play better to win down there." Phoenix clearly tried to pick up their hitting and play a physical game, but it back fired as the Coyotes took too many penalties. We tried the whole game to be more physical. It was the power play again that killed us," Phoenix's Jeremy Roenick said. "At even strength we beat them 1-0. With special teams, they beat us. We have to stay out of the penalty box, and we have to get some breaks in the calls." The series moves to Phoenix for Games 3 and 4. |
