All Even In WestArchived from 1999-2000 season. | |
Brett Hull scored two goals and added an assist and Mike Modano had three assists as the Dallas Stars bounced back to beat the Colorado Avalanche 4-1 and to tie the Western Conference finals two games apiece.
"We're sitting here at 2-2 with three games left, two at home," Dallas coach Ken Hitchcock said. "Our team feels pretty good about itself right now. We got the win in this building that we badly needed. Colorado plays perfect in this building. We play really well in our building, too. The game changes dramatically when it goes into our building now." Colorado outshot Dallas by staggering 39-15, but Ed Belfour in the Stars net played a brilliant game making 38 saves. "Eddie was terrific," Hitchcock said. "He's been terrific the whole series. He's played four great hockey games." Joe Nieuwendyk and Richard Matvichuk also scored for the Stars, who regained home-ice advantage as the series moves to Dallas for Game 5 on Tuesday. "We showed a lot of character today," Nieuwendyk said. "Some people thought this series was over. Now it's the best-of-three. I think we played well, but just because we are going home doesn't mean it will be easy." Dave Reid scored for Colorado, who had defenseman Adam Foote back in the lineup after he missed Game 3 with an eye injury. "We knew how important this game was. We talked about it for the last day and a half," Avalanche left wing Dave Andreychuk said. "Game Fours are very important, especially if you can go up 3-1. It's 2-2 and we knew it was going to be a long series. We expected that. We expected them to play better. They did. And we're going to have to bounce back." |
