Stars Getting Ready For PlayoffsArchived from 1999-2000 season. | |
Ed Belfour recorded his 49th career shutout and Mike Modano scored his 30th goal as the Dallas Stars beat the Philadelphia Flyers 2-0 on Wednesday night.
"I felt real good tonight, I saw the puck very well the whole game," Belfour said. "It's definitely important for us to get it geared up for the better teams. And it's important for me to get in a groove and keep it going into the playoffs." Dallas extended their unbeaten streak against the Flyers to five games. The Stars are beginning to look a lot like the team that won the Cup last year despite of playing without injured Joe Nieuwendyk, Jere Lehtinen, Blake Sloan, Shawn Chambers and Brian Skrudland. "We're not as tall as them, but we probably have more 200-pound players on our roster than in the past. We can at least match them physically, and I thought we played pretty well in that area tonight," Stars coach Ken Hitchcock said. Philadelphia has been hit hard with injuries lately and were missing such regulars as Eric Lindros, Keith Primeau and Dan McGillis. "Everybody works hard on Dallas. It seems like they just keep coming at you," said interim Flyers coach Craig Ramsay. "Tonight they got solid goaltending, very good penalty-killing and exceptional play at the blue line. I was very impressed with the way we played. Our level of intensity was high the entire game. It's unfortunate we had a couple of breaks go against us that they were able to cash in." |
