Stars Keep Streak AliveArchived from 1999-2000 season. | |
One of the most amazing streaks in hockey just got longer as the Dallas Stars extended their unbeaten string to 22 games over the Los Angeles Kings with a 3-1 victory.
Mike Modano had a goal and two assists and Ed Belfour stopped 36 shots as the Stars found a way to win despite being outshot, 37-18. "I felt real focused," said Belfour. "I like playing in games where I see a lot of shots. I want to play in games like that, where I have to make every save I can. Sometimes it's easier when the shots come one after the other." Dallas, 4-0 against Los Angeles this season, is 16-0-6 against the Kings since April 6, 1995. "You can't explain something like this in just one or two reasons," Modano said. "We seemed to get a lot of bounces against them and we seem to get goals against them that don't come against other teams." Craig Johnson scored the only goal for the Kings, who were scoreless on six power-play chances. "We're going to keep competing hard until we beat them," Los Angeles coach Andy Murray said. "Tonight, I thought we did a lot of things real well, but Belfour was tremendous. I don't think they had but four or five real good chances against us. But that's why they are the defending Stanley Cup champs. They find ways to win like this." |
